THE DEVIL BAT (1940/Producers Releasing Company) 68 Minutes Black & White. 16mm Very Bad Shape

Bela Lugosi is not a happy camper, although he finds much amusement sending someone off to be killed by his pet giant bats. Superb grade Z thrills. This must be the best movie ever made for pure entertainment value. While other studios lavished their movies with expensive sets, well written scripts, big name stars and other extraneous extravagances, PRC used the simple formula of a murder a reel. Like clockwork. SOMETHING happens every eleven minutes and what ever it is, you can be sure it beats the hell out of useless cast-of-thousands, million dollar budgets and coherent plots. This print is in pretty bad shape for the first half or so, but it's still a helluva lot of fun. Directed by Jean Yarbrough; Produced by Jack Gallagher; Ex.Produced by Sigmund Neufeld; Screenplay by John Thomas Neville; Music by David Chudnow. From a story by George Brickner. Starring Bela Lugosi, Suzanne Kaaren, Dave O'Brien, Guy Usher, Yolande Mallott, Hal Price, Donald Kerr, Edward Mortimer, Gene O'Donnell, Alan Baldwin, John Ellis, Arthur Q.Bryan, John Davidson, Wally Rairdon.
